Taschen is one of the best-known art publishing houses. Founded 1980 in Cologne, Germany, the publisher operates worldwide today. The family-run business is famous for bringing controversially discussed art to its wide audience. Hereby, the focus is on art photography, comic reprints, painting, design, fashion, film and architecture.
The publisher’s publications range from large editions with the complete works of Leonardo da Vinci to books of medium size and the so-called “Icons” series, in which small volumes in flexible covers cover various topics (from historical advertising campaigns for Las Vegas to architecture and nude photography). Furthermore, the publisher produces calendars, address books and postcards with familiar motifs.
