In April 2015, photographer Steffen Böttcher flew to New York to take his very own look at the “city of cities”. 25 years after his last visit to the multi-million metropolis, he set out to photograph his memories of that time. But how does one encounter a city of which there seem to be more photographs than of the rest of the world? “Exploring New York is like leafing through an illustrated book that you’ve browsed through hundreds of times. Every detail seems to be burned into your head. And the world needs nothing less than that I photograph everything exactly the same way again now“, says Böttcher. For some time now he has been intensively engaged with photographic trends such as Pictorialism and Film Noir and wanted to combine both styles here in New York. The result of his three-week dream journey through New York is now presented in this impressive illustrated book “Logbook New York”.
